Kenneth J. Kalis
Educated at Rutgers and Fordham Universities, Kenneth J. Kalis, CLU built business career during 21 years in Prudential's corporate office in Newark, New Jersey. His career spanned a wide range of assignments including setting marketing goals and objectives, zero-based budgeting, compensation, employee recognition, process design and procedure creation, communications, and a wide range of planning and coordinating
issues and corporate wide projects for the departments reporting to the president office.
Before moving on to private consulting work, Ken was the Quality Service Executive for the Regional Home Offices, the Computer Services and Systems Office, and Actuarial Department. Prudential Bank and Additional Distribution Channels. As he helped these areas continuously improve their business processes, using the Deming approach to Total Quality Management, he also was active in the Company's exploration
of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award.
This expertise and experience enabled Ken to begin his own consulting practice in 1994. One of his first opportunities was to work on an alternative dispute resolution process for a large company settling a class action law suit. This involved centralizing the consumer complaint and service functions and creating processes and procedures that compiled with the court order and were customer friendly as well.
In the late 1990's Ken worked with life insurance executives from nearly 50 companies to form a self-regulatory organization that encourage ethical market conduct.
Since then, Ken has worked full-time on assessing the business practices of companies in the areas of advertising, compliance, fair competition, communications, training and needs-based selling. As a part of these assessments, Ken has identified best practices using the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award standards and has written articles on his findings for the life insurance industry's publications.
In 1997, Ken moved with his family from Princeton/Somerset, NJ area to Haile Plantation in Gainesville, Florida. In Florida he established the Kenneth J. Kalis Company and gained the valuable experience that underlies the checklist for starting a new business that appears on the home page of this web site. He became convinced that he could save others starting businesses extensive time and money by facilitating
the start up for them, hence this effort.
Over the years, Ken has built up a business team of some 18 individuals with deep experience in their professions and developed task specific software to help companies manage the quality of their business areas. Together we have worked with over 50 nationally known companies and are now planning on focusing significant energy on the Gainesville area and its opportunities.
When ken is "off-duty", he enjoys fishing, tennis and other activities with family in the Gainesville area. A committed Christian, Ken enjoys teaching Sunday school and has led Bible studies for many years. He also enjoys poetry and usually includes some in his updates and newsletter. Ken is very enthusiastic
about his work and very customer-focused. If he can be of help to you, please call or e-mail him.
